How to get the most out of Solid State Drives in Windows

Provides advice for optimizing performance and health for Seagate SSDs.

While installing a Solid State Drive can improve your system's overall performance, the tips below will help you get the most out of your SSD drive.

Not all of the included steps will help everyone, as computer habits vary from person to person. Seagate recommends keeping track of any of the changes that you make, just in case something does not work quite right.

Optimize Windows for use with a Solid State Drive by deactivating automatic defragmentation, SuperFetch, and prefetch.

Note: When a SSD is installed, Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 will deactivate defragmentation, SuperFetch, and prefetch automatically.

You may also experience performance degradation if the drive is filled with data to more than 90% of its capacity. Do not overfill the drive.
