Powering a Portable Drive
LaCie portable drives are built to run off power supplied through the USB or FireWire port of the computer. If your computer does not provide enough power to operate the drive, we supply a USB power cable. One end plugs into an un-used USB port on the computer and the other end plugs into the power connection on the drive. Optionally, an AC Power Adapter is available from LaCie.Note: Only use the LaCie AC Adapter specified for this drive. Do not use a power supply from another LaCie drive or another manufacturer. Using any other power cable or power supply may cause damage to the device and void your warranty.
Your drive will have one or more of the following ports available for connecting to your computer. Follow the instructions for the port you will use. Note: You cannot have the drives FireWire and USB interfaces connected at the same time. However, you can use both FireWire 400 and FireWire 800 at the same time. |
