SkyHawk Takes Govies Again
For the second year in a row, the Seagate® SkyHawk™ AI 16TB hard drive is a platinum winner of Security Today’s Govies Government Security Awards in the Video Surveillance Data Storage category.
Security Today named Seagate Technology’s SkyHawk™ AI 16TB hard drive the winner of the 2020 Govies Government Security Awards in the Video Surveillance Data Storage category for the second year in a row. SkyHawk AI was designated as a platinum winner, which is the highest level of recognition a product can receive. The winners were selected by an independent panel of judges organized by Security Today and 1105 Media’s Infrastructure Solutions Group. Products were evaluated based on design, interoperability, innovation, technical advances, impact on the security industry, and other criteria.
“For more than a decade now, we have had the honor of awarding platinum and gold awards to manufacturers who supply solutions to the many government entities,” said Ralph C. Jensen, editor-in-chief of Security Today magazine. “Today is no different. I’m so pleased with the diversity and quality shown in the products entered in this year’s competition. Our GovSec publication has been a guiding light of the newest solutions available to the end user. We’re proud to be part of the government body.”
SkyHawk AI 16TB offers the highest capacity of any drive in its class and is purpose built for video surveillance deployments and edge applications. In the security industry, system integrators need high-performing, reliable storage products that are optimized for high-resolution video, AI analytics, and around-the-clock workloads. Seagate’s hard drives are designed to do just that.
For surveillance systems, latency issues leading to data loss and system downtime can detrimentally inhibit security operations. To address this need, Seagate introduced SkyHawk AI, which records video from up to 64 HD cameras and features ImagePerfect™ firmware to minimize dropped frames and enable smooth streaming. The hard drive also supports dozens of simultaneous AI events, preserving both the video and metadata needed for real-time detection and decision-making. SkyHawk AI also comes with SkyHawk Health Management software that actively monitors drive health and makes intervention recommendations to prevent data loss. These features set Seagate’s SkyHawk AI apart and is why the solution has been widely received by the marketplace as well as by the Govies Award committee.
Every year, the Govies Awards, sponsored by Security Today and GovSec, honor outstanding government security products across a variety of categories, such as Cyber Defense Solutions, Perimeter Protection, Video Analytics and Video Surveillance Data Storage. The award is intended to distinguish manufacturers and vendors whose security solutions have been proven in the field to meet the security, safety, and organizational standards necessary for government-level security systems.
1105 Media’s Infrastructure Solutions Group first launched its government security awards program in 2009. In 2011, the program became known as The Govies. As government security concerns have grown, participation in the program has also increased.
