Using Seagate System Monitor

Seagate System Monitor is a convenient tool for monitoring the health of your Seagate server. It includes intuitive tools for tracking the server’s software, hardware, and hard drives.

Launch Seagate System Monitor

1. In the Windows toolbar, click the Seagate icon.
2. Click a Seagate System Monitor widget to get status information.
3. Click a widget to learn about that area of the system.

Understanding the Seagate System Monitor Widgets

Storage—Available storage and the health of the hard drives. A green light means that the storage is working as expected. A red light means that the RAID has failed.
System—Number of consecutive hours or days the server has been running, CPU usage, memory usage, and the speed of the fan.
Disks—Health status and operating temperature for the hard drives. A green light means that the hard drives are working as expected. A red light means that immediate action is required. You can also view the Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) status, which is used for informational purposes when diagnosing hard drives.
Support—Availability of updates for WSS 2012 and Seagate System Monitor. You can also download system logs when troubleshooting a problem with Seagate technical support.
Notifications—Enable email notifications regarding the server’s health status. You must use an SMTP server to configure the notifications.
Network—Which Ethernet ports are connected to a network. A green light means the port is connected. A white lights means the port is not connected.
Volumes—Name, health status, storage capacity, file system, used disks, and RAID.
General—Various server settings to customize behavior.
