Getting Started

Ultra Compact SSD performance

You can connect Ultra Compact SSD to a USB-C port on your computer, but transfer rates vary:

Port Transfer rates
Thunderbolt 5 up to 80Gbps
USB 80Gbps (USB4v2) up to 80Gbps
Thunderbolt 4 up to 40Gbps
Thunderbolt 3 up to 40Gbps
USB 40Gbps (USB4) up to 40Gbps
USB 20Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2x2) up to 20Gbps
USB 10Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2) up to 10Gbps
USB 5Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 1) up to 5Gbps

Connect Ultra Compact SSD

  1. Remove the protective cap from the USB-C connector on Ultra Compact SSD.
  2. Plug Ultra Compact SSD into a USB-C port on your computer.

Set up Ultra Compact SSD

The setup process lets you:

Register Seagate Ultra Compact SSD Get the most from your drive with easy access to information and support. www.seagate.com/register
Install Toolkit Manage mirror folders, backup plans (Windows only), and more. www.seagate.com/toolkit
  Your computer must be connected to the internet to register your device and install Toolkit.

Start here

Using a file manager such as Finder or File Explorer, open Ultra Compact SSD and launch Start Here Mac or Start Here Win.

 If your drive no longer has a Start Here icon, you can register your device on seagate.com. Toolkit can be downloaded from the Toolkit support page.

Register your device

Enter your information and select Register.

Download Toolkit

Select the Download button.

Install Toolkit

Using a file manager such as Finder or File Explorer, go to the folder where you receive downloads.

  • Windows—Select the SeagateToolkit.exe file to launch the application.
  • Mac—Open the SeagateToolkit.zip file and select the Seagate Toolkit Installer to launch the application.

Use protective case

  1. Push Ultra Compact SSD's connector into the top of the protective case and slide the connector through the opening at the end. Pull the rest of case over the back of the device.
  2. Place the protective cap over the connector.

To remove the protective case, pull the case away from the back of Ultra Compact SSD and slide the device out.

Use lanyard

  1. Turn Ultra Compact SSD over and thread the string loop through the two openings.
  2. Thread the lanyard strap through the string loop.

To remove the lanyard, reverse the steps above.
