Yes, the Seagate photo drive is compatible with both Windows and Mac devices. The photo hard drive comes pre-formatted in exFAT, a file system that allows seamless read and write access on both platforms.

Connect your Seagate photo drive to your computer using the provided USB cable to set up. The drive should be recognized automatically. For more detailed instructions, refer to Seagate Getting Started Guide.

To back up your photos using the Seagate photo drive, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the drive. Plug the Seagate photo drive into your computer’s USB port.
  2. Open file Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). Locate and open the Seagate drive, which will appear as a new drive letter (e.g., E: or F:) on Windows or as a mounted drive on Mac.
  3. Locate your photos. Navigate to the folders containing the photos you wish to back up.
  4. Copy photos to the drive.
    1. Drag and drop. Select the desired photos or folders, then drag them to the Seagate drive window.
    2. Copy and paste. Right-click the selected photos or folders, choose Copy, then right- click within the Seagate drive window and select Paste.
  5. Verify the transfer. Ensure all files have copied correctly by confirming they are on the Seagate drive.
  6. Safely eject the drive. After the transfer is complete, safely eject the Seagate drive to prevent data corruption.

For enhanced photo organization and management, the Seagate photo drive includes a complimentary three-year subscription to Mylio Photos. This software helps consolidate and optimize your photo library, providing access to your images across multiple devices.

Seagate photo drive supports all standard photo file formats, including JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and RAW. Its compatibility with various file systems means it can store a wide range of file types.

To transfer photos from your phone or computer to the Seagate photo drive, first connect the drive to your device. On a computer (Windows/Mac), drag and drop or copy and paste photos directly. For iPhone and Android, use an adapter or a file transfer app that supports external drives.
