Seagate BlackArmor Backup - Using the Bootable Rescue Media Builder to Create a Recovery CD or ISO Image
The Seagate BlackArmor NAS 440 CD-ROM serves multiple purposes:

  • The installation CD for BlackArmor Discovery for Windows
  • The installation CD for BlackArmor Backup for Windows
  • The installation CD for BlackArmor Discovery for Macintosh
  • The Seagate BlackArmor Recovery CD when needed.

All of these tools are available on Seagate's website in the event that the CD is lost/damaged. However, there is a utility in the BlackArmor Backup Software that allows users to:

  • Create a copy of the BlackArmor Recovery software on a bootable CD
  • Create an ISO image of the BlackArmor Recovery software that can be later burned to a CD

The software created is solely a copy of the BlackArmor Recovery - it does not regenerate the Discovery nor Backup software portions of the original CD shipped with the BlackArmor NAS 440.
The utility is known as the Bootable Rescue Media Builder.
Note: It is assumed that you have installed the Seagate BlackArmor Backup Software as well.
