Thunderbolt 5 drives have different compatibility requirements compared to standard USB and Thunderbolt 3 or 4 drives.
For LaCie Rugged SSD Pro5, please make sure that your device meets the requirements below.
Notes:
- Rugged SSD Pro5 cannot be connected to a USB Type A port.
- Connecting Rugged SSD Pro5 to a Thunderbolt 3 (Mac only), Thunderbolt 4, or USB4 port limits its performance to the port's speed.
macOS
Connect Rugged SSD Pro5 to the Thunderbolt port of an M-based or Intel-based Mac running macOS 15 (Sequoia) or higher.
iPad
Rugged SSD Pro5 must be connected to an M-based iPad Pro with:
- A Thunderbolt port
- iPadOS 18 or higher
Windows
Your Windows PC must run Windows 11 23H2 or higher. Review the conditions below to guarantee that Rugged SSD Pro5 performs as expected.
Thunderbolt Performance
Your Windows PC must include a Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 5 port.
USB4
You can connect Rugged SSD Pro5 to a USB4 port on a Windows PC.
USB 10 Gbps/20 Gbps Port with 15W Power Delivery
If your Windows PC does not include a Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 5 port, you can connect Rugged SSD Pro5 to a USB-C port that is USB 10 Gbps or 20 Gbps. The port must deliver a minimum of 15W to Rugged SSD Pro5.
Thunderbolt 3 Port
Connecting Rugged SSD Pro5 to a Thunderbolt 3 port is not supported.
