FREMONT, CA – January 7, 2025 – LaCie, the premium brand from Seagate Technology Holdings plc (NASDAQ: STX), today introduced the industry's fastest scratch disk for creative professionals—the LaCie Rugged SSD Pro5. Leveraging next-gen Thunderbolt 5 technology, the Rugged SSD Pro5 is ideal for filmmakers, photographers, and audio specialists who want the highest performance and reliability from their storage solutions.
The new Rugged SSD Pro5 delivers ultra-fast read/write speeds of up to 6700/5300MB/s for streamlining workflows and maximizing productivity for creative projects. Available in capacities of up to 4TB, it enables real-time editing of 8K and 6K RAW footage and ensures smooth performance with even the most intensive tasks.

Designed by Neil Poulton, its iconic rugged rubber enclosure allows for maximum portability in active workflows while enabling users to keep their data safe. Crafted with both creators and the planet in mind, the drive is built with at least 45% recycled materials by weight to help reduce environmental impact without compromising performance.
The Rugged SSD Pro5 is highly compatible, connecting easily with Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, and USB 10/20/40Gbps USB-C hosts on Windows®, macOS®, and iPad Pro® devices that provide a 15W minimum1,2. Shipping globally, the new LaCie Rugged SSD Pro5 will be available this month for $399.99 (2TB) and $599.99 (4TB).
