For optimal transfer speeds, use the Thunderbolt 3 cable to connect LaCie Rugged SSD Pro to a Thunderbolt 3 port on your computer.
Alternatively, you can connect Rugged SSD Pro to a USB-3.1 Gen 1/Gen 2 (USB-C) port. Transfer speeds vary (see Cables and Connectors).
The setup process lets you:

Using a file manager such as Finder or File Explorer, open LaCie Rugged SSD Pro and launch Start Here Mac or Start Here Win.
Enter your information and click Register.
Click the Download button.

LaCie Rugged SSD Pro is preformatted exFAT for compatibility with both Windows and Mac computers. If you use the drive with only one type of computer, you can optimize file copy performance by formatting it in the native file system for your operating system. Choose one of the following methods to optimize your drive:
