Seagate Duet - Transferring Files from Mobile Device to Seagate Duet

This article describes how to upload files that are on a mobile device to the Seagate Duet folder in your Amazon Drive account. Files uploaded here will sync to the Seagate Duet drive if it is plugged into a computer that has Internet access and the Seagate Duet software is running.

This article assumes the Seagate Duet drive has already been configured to sync with an Amazon Drive account. If this is not the case, please see the article titled ‘Seagate Duet - Getting Started’ on the Seagate Duet support page here.

Note: Amazon Drive will not sync files to your mobile device, the method below simply describes how to manually upload files from a mobile device to an Amazon Drive account.

Getting started

Download and install the Amazon mobile app for iOS or Android devices. For more information about the app and a list of supported mobile devices, please see this Amazon Help page.

Run the app on your mobile device. It immediately asks to sign into an Amazon Drive account. After a short loading screen, it displays the available folders in the account.

Once inside the Amazon Drive account, open the Seagate Duet drive’s folder by tapping it. All the files and folders that have already been synced from the Seagate Duet drive can be seen here.

Uploading files from a mobile device to the Amazon Drive

Note:
Files must be uploaded to the Seagate Duet folder in your Amazon Drive account for those files to sync with your Seagate Duet drive.

iOS

See the image below for a visual guide to the following steps:

(1) Browse to the Seagate Duet folder in your Amazon Drive account and tap the 3 dot button in the top right corner.

(2) Select Create Folder.

(3) Give it a name, for example “Mobile uploads”.

(4) Open the destination folder where the files will be uploaded to, then tap the 3 dot button in the top right corner and select Add Files.

(5) Select the source with the files that will be uploaded (Camera / Photos and Videos / iCloud / More) - The Amazon app might need to be allowed access to the source.

For example: Open the Camera Roll and select files to upload by tapping them. When your selection is complete, tap the Done button in the top right corner.

The files will now upload to your Amazon Drive account. If you chose the Seagate Duet folder as the destination, and the Seagate Duet drive is connected to a computer with Internet access, and the Seagate Duet desktop software is running, those new files will sync to the Seagate Duet drive.

Android

See the image below for a visual guide to the following steps:

(1) Browse to the Seagate Duet folder in your Amazon Drive account and tap the 3 dot button in the top right corner.

(2) Select Create Folder.

(3) Give it a name, for example “Mobile uploads”.

(4) Open the destination folder where the files will be uploaded to, then tap the 3 dot button in the top right corner and select Add Files.

(5) Select the source with the files that will be uploaded (Take a photo / Take a video / Add any file) - Using the Add any file option allows files to be uploaded from any storage connected to the mobile device (local / cloud / memory card).

Tap a file once to upload it. Hold a finger on a file for a second to select it, then do the same for any additional files and tap Open at the top right to start uploading multiple files at once.

The selected files will now upload to your Amazon Drive account. If you chose the Seagate Duet folder as the destination, and the Seagate Duet drive is connected to a computer with Internet access, and the Seagate Duet desktop software is running, those files will sync to the Seagate Duet drive.
