Seagate Introduces Cloud Import by Lyve Mobile Services for Seamless Cloud Ingest

This new addition to the Lyve Mobile Data Transfer as a Service enables fast and simple data upload to any major public cloud destination

FREMONT, CA — October 19, 2022 — Seagate Technology Holdings plc (NASDAQ: STX), a world leader in data storage infrastructure solutions, today announced the new data transfer feature, cloud import, a simple, fast and secure way of data ingest to help Lyve Mobile customers accelerate mass data transfers from edge or core to the cloud destination of their choice, including Amazon S3, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure and Lyve Cloud.

For data hungry industries like media and entertainment, energy and geosciences or autonomous vehicles, and others who constantly move mass data in unique environments where time-to-data is critical, Lyve Mobile Data Transfer as a Service has been a game changer. In addition to the efficient and secure mass data logistics, this solution responds to enterprise data ownership requirements and provides the most demanding enterprise-level data security protection while managing data at the edge and moving it to the core. Cloud Import, an additional feature for Lyve Mobile Services, allows customers to easily accelerate their data ingestion from the field to any major public clouds by simply adding the feature to their Project Plan.

" Recently, we have been requested by one of our customers to deliver a project data digitally, as opposed to delivering the data on physical devices," says Dan Kulykov, IT Infrastructure & Support Manager at PXGEO, an innovative marine geophysical data acquisition service provider.  "Since the amount of data to be delivered hit 1PB, we knew it would be a big challenge for us to ingest it to the cloud fast, so we decided to turn to Seagate Lyve Mobile with Cloud Import, the new data ingestion service. The process proved to be very simple, fast and efficient. We have indeed saved a lot of time and man hours on both sides of the equation - data collection and data destination points, which converts into monetary savings for our business."

With the introduction of this vendor agnostic cloud import service, Seagate offers a seamless data transfer workflow and hassle-free logistics at every step of data creation and management be it remote on-set or on location. This unique end-to-end support from Seagate gives our customers peace of mind: they do not need to worry about data ownership as they know exactly where their data is at every step of its journey while meeting deadlines and staying in control of their budget.

“We are in constant dialogue with our partners and customers to better understand their needs and enhance their user experience when it comes to the challenges of mass data movement and beyond. This new feature, Cloud Import, now complements our Lyve Mobile offering with a transparent and flat fee-per-device subscription plan to seamlessly enable the last mile of the overall data workflow,” said Melyssa Banda, vice president of Lyve Mobile Solutions at Seagate Technology. “We are delighted to propose a simple and secure solution to one of the most important challenges our partners and end-customers face when moving mass data from the end point to edge and to the cloud.”
